Birth Certificate Ministry
Wednesdays 10:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
No Appointment Necessary
Being a downtown church, we see many people in need walk through our doors each week. The majority of our funds for the needy are used to assist people in need to acquire birth certificates needed to access state and federal services and to enroll children in school. A special offering to support this ministry is received on the fourth Sunday of Advent.

Starting April 7, 2023, Ohioans who are 17 years and older can receive a state ID card at no cost from the BMV. In light of this policy change we are now focusing our ministry on helping clients obtain birth certificates.

Most states require some form of documentation to obtain a birth certificate. Please bring some form of documentation to include with your request. Examples include but are not limited to: Utility Bills, W-2 Forms, Bank Statement, ID card or Driver's License (even if it has recently expired), School Record, Hunting or Fishing License, Public Assistance Benefits Statement, Court Documents etc.

The Westminster Document Storage Ministry (WDSM) is a community service to provide Clients and their dependents with a secure location to store any of the government-issued documents. The WDMS, is available to all residents of Dayton and neighboring communities. The WDSM is maintained and operated by volunteers from Westminster Presbyterian Church (WPC).

All documents are locked in a fireproof cabinet. Only trained Document Storage Ministry volunteers will have access to this cabinet. We treat your documents with as much care and respect as if they were our own. If you have a photo ID, we’ll store a copy with your file. We’ll also take a photo of you to store with your documents so we can verify it’s you before granting access to the file. ONLY YOU can make deposits and withdraws.
