Christian Education
Nursery
Infant through 2 years (Room 108)
Every Sunday morning of the year your “little children” are loved and nurtured by both an outstanding professional staff and volunteers in large, well-equipped rooms. Should your child need you, we provide you with a beeper so that we may easily locate you at any time.
Toddlers
Toddlers, 3 - 4 years (Room 106)
Every Sunday during the worship hour, our toddlers are introduced to Bible stories, singing, and praying, utilizing a simple, original curriculum, “First Lessons in Faith,” which includes activities and crafts. A snack is also served.
Children and Worship
Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten (Room 106)
This is a special place to be with God, to talk with God, to listen to God, and to hear the stories of God. These words begin every lesson of the innovative Young Children & Worship approach we use with our Pre-K and K children, pioneered by Sonja Stewart and Jerome Berryman. Each lesson also includes a response activity and a “feast.” This age group begins worship in the Sanctuary with their parents, and then leaves during the second hymn to begin this class that extends through the Sunday School period.
Come and See
1st and 2nd Grades (Room 104)
Building on the foundation from Children and Worship, children in grades 1 and 2 are introduced to a new set of Bible stories from Sonja Stewart’s sequel Following Jesus as well as songs, signing, and prayer practices to continue their spiritual formation. These children also begin the worship hour in the Sanctuary and leave at the second hymn (about 10:20) to continue this class that ends when CrossRoads Sunday School begins.
CrossRoads: Education for the Journey
Grades 1 through 6 (After Worship Rooms 101 – 109 and Theater)
Elementary-grade children grow in their faith as age-group shepherds and teachers share the Good News through our workshop-based program. Each Sunday the Bible story is actively experienced in colorful, stimulating learning environments which include computers, arts and crafts, storytelling, games & puzzles, drama, cooking, and mission workshops.
