Taizé Services
Thursdays during Lent, March 1, 8, 15, 22, 29
5:40-6:15 p.m.

Come and experience a meditative service of songs and prayers

The liturgy for these services originated with the Taizé community founded in France in 1940.  This community is an ecumenical, intentional community with a twofold purpose:  to seek communion with God through personal prayer and the beauty of community prayer; and also be a leaven of peace and trust in the midst of humanity.  A traditional Taizé service includes listening to God though simple, meditative songs, scripture, prayer and silence, in the beauty of the Westminster Sanctuary.

Worship at Westminster

Westminster is committed to expressing our love of God through inspirational worship in the Reformed tradition – worship that challenges the mind, touches the heart, and lifts the spirit.

WorshipVisitors are welcomed graciously, and frequently tell us the beauty and grandeur of the Sanctuary and meaningfulness of the service awe them.

Worship is Westminster’s heart. The tone of our worship is formal and traditional yet also friendly and winsome. (No electric guitars, PowerPoint sermons or projection screens grace our neo-gothic cathedral!)

Music is an important part of any Westminster worship service - from our many choirs, our magnificent organ with its 7,000 pipes and the congregation’s participation. We are a singing church!

The order of worship is guided by the Presbyterian Book of Common Worship.
The Presbyterian Hymnal has been used since its publication. The New Revised Standard Version of the Bible and The Message Bible are read from the lectern. Numerous special, creative services are conducted throughout the liturgical year.  Many regional ecumenical services are also conducted in our Sanctuary.
