Youth Fellowship Opportunities ~ Beginning on September 12
Youth Fellowship Music: Sunday afternoon, 4:00 – 5:00 p.m.
Students in grades 7-12 are encouraged to participate in the youth band. This music group is led by Youth Advisor, Vail McGuire. They lead music every Sunday at the beginning of youth fellowship. All skill levels and instruments are welcome.
Youth Fellowship: Sunday evenings, 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.
Students in grades 7-12 join together for dinner and conversation on Sunday evenings at 6:00 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall. Youth should bring $2 to help defray the cost of the meal graciously provided by parents of youth.
Westminster has two youth fellowship groups: a Junior High group (grades 7 & 8) and a Senior High group (grades 9 - 12). The two groups have regular meetings on Sunday evenings from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. Each group enjoys a well-balanced program of activities that focus on fellowship, worship, study and service.
Each year the youth fellowship explores a theme. This theme is determined by the PYC (Presbyterian Youth Council), a ministry team of the Education and Practice Committee, and culminates with worship on Youth Sunday, traditionally the first Sunday in May.
Westminster has an outstanding group of committed adult advisors who work with the youth fellowship program including a number of Older Adults who join us each week for dinner and conversation.
A typical Sunday evening schedule begins with dinner, then a gathering time for singing and introduction to our topic for the night. Youth then move into small groups for activities and conversation. At the end of the evening all the youth return to Fellowship Hall for Closing Circle, our ritual time of sharing and prayer.
E.J. Brown Parent’s Night Out
Once a month the youth of Westminster prepare and serve dinner for the students who participate in the tutoring program and their families. All youth are encouraged to participate in this fun and meaningful mission opportunity.
