For Presbyterians, “the office of deacon is one of sympathy, witness and service.”

What does that mean to us?

At Westminster, deacons are the “doers” of multiple direct-care
ministries for members and others from birth to the end of life.

Each deacon is responsible for a particular ministry, including:

Visiting new babies and their families in their homes

Visiting parishioners in the hospital

Bringing a meal to a parishioner just home from the hospital

Providing transportation to medical appointments and special church activities

Coordinating the Care Partner Program matching an active member with one less able to get out

Loaning medical equipment

Preparing a tray of food following a death

Deacons also:

Assist our nurses twice a month on blood pressure Sundays

Deliver flowers to hospitalized members each Sunday

Provide cookies and carols to some of our shut-ins
