Children and Youth

Sunday Mornings

CrossRoads-Education for the Journey is an exciting Christian education program for children on Sunday mornings, from 10:55 to 11:30.  At the beginning of the last hymn children will be met by their shepherds in the Narthex and escorted directly to their workshops.  Transformed into colorful, stimulating learning environments, each CrossRoads room provides focused learning activities such as computers, drama, puppets, storytelling, cooking, movement and music, arts and crafts, audio-visuals, Bible games, and worship education which appeal to the natural and preferred learning styles of children, enabling them to discover the truths of God’s Word as well as develop the love for a life of praise and service in the name of Jesus Christ.

Accompanied by their class shepherd, children in kindergarten through grade 8 rotate through the different workshops over six successive weeks, experiencing the same lesson each week but from a different perspective, resulting in a higher degree of biblical literacy and an increased enthusiasm for learning about God. Teachers focus on areas of instruction in which they are especially gifted.

Come and See (10:20 to 11:55 a.m.) is a worship experience to help children in kindergarten through grade 3 make the transition to Whole Community Worship. Come and See meets in the Chapel and includes scripture reading, preaching, responding, praying and singing.

Calvin Fellowship (grades 4-6)

A variety of opportunities are scheduled throughout the year for students in grades 4 through 6. Parents take turns planning and hosting events.  Families are welcome to participate with their children. Please watch the bulletin and The Chimes for further information.

Confirmation Class

Offered annually, this class is open to all senior high youth (grades 9-12) who wish to explore their faith and what it means to become a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church. Youth Fellowship

Students in grades 7-12 eat dinner together on Sunday evenings at 6:00 p.m. Westminster has two youth fellowship groups: a Junior High group (grades 7 & 8) and a Senior High group (grades 9 - 12).
