Westminster is a safe place to ask questions and to live the questions of life that have no easy or pat answers. We understand the life of faith to be a journey, and we walk that path with God and one another. Westminster is an exciting congregation where you can grow in faith and discover meaningful opportunities to serve others in the name of God. All are welcome here.
Organized in 1799 Westminster began as a congregation of ten, worshipping in a small log cabin: Dayton’s first church.
Now we are an active, diverse congregation of 1,100 members located in downtown Dayton - a regional church with a worship and program life dynamic enough to attract people throughout the Miami Valley.
We are a congregation mostly composed of professionals. Our members are warm, open, caring, educated and eager to learn. We are a congregation that is willing, but occasionally willful; committed but often opinionated; strong but sometimes vulnerable; and always diverse. We find our unity through Christ in traditional worship, exceptional music, strong Christian education, exciting youth fellowship and aggressive community outreach.
Westminster Presbyterian Church is part of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). For more information on its mission and ministries, go to www.pcusa.org. You will also find there devotional materials to enrich your spiritual life.
We are also a part of The Covenant Network of Presbyterians, a broad-based, national group of clergy and lay leaders working for a church that is simultaneously faithful, just, and whole. It seeks to support the mission and unity of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) in a time of potentially divisive controversy. It intends to articulate and act on the church's historic, progressive vision and to work for a fully inclusive church. For a fuller description and newsletter go to www.covenantnetwork.org.
